OpenCollar 3.980 - Main Release

4/9/2014

Today we release our main update for Q3 2014. This time included are several fixes, enhancements and new features. Contributors for 3.980 development were Romka Swallowtail, littlemousy, Karo Weirsider, Sumi Perl and Wendy Starfall.

For a detailed change log, please take a look at the commit history and the contribution graphs on our space at GitHub. (For the animation part, please see the history of this repository instead.)

New features can be found in the Apps menu, with Bookmarks, in Options, with a stealth feature to quickly hide the whole collar while accurately removing and restoring glow and in Help/About.

There are also two optional plugins, Styles and Shininess to further enhance the Appearance controller of the collar. These are available with custom installations during an Update.

Also custom are many more height scalar animations. We recommend installing extra scalars only if necessary because the standard set fits for the majority of avatars. Huge or petite avatars can experiment with XL and XXS scalars. As is the nature of this feature, not all poses will work with it.

New chat commands are available to activate touch notifications for collars with <prefix>busted as toggle or <prefix>busted on/off. Busted will also broadcast the URI of the avatar who touched for opening their profile to engage in chatter or flirting right away if so desired.

The Help/About menu has been uncluttered and provides information of the currently used prefix, channel and safeword. Updates will no longer create pop-up notifications for any version greater than 3.980 and unchecking the News feature will disable the newsflashes as well. Since we use this broadcasting method very sparsely and only for very important information, it is highly recommended to not to deactivate the news item feature, yet, we believe it is necessary to offer the choice to do so anyway.

Bookmarks replaces the old Destinations browser in collars. It is now no longer necessary to use traditional landmarks for teleporting with the collar. Places can be saved on site or entered in textboxes via slurl and name. This effectively allows collar wearers to be teleported away wherever and is a much more convenient method to organize favorites because of handy <prefix>tp commands.

By choice the Runaway feature can now be optionally deactivated by collar wearers to prevent running away fully. Only primary owners will then be able to re-enable this functionality.

Removed was the trace feature and currently not distributed are several collar designs with the Dancer's Collar, Moire Collar, Leather Collar, the Bunny Hood, Thorny Treat and the Bubblegum Choker. Wendy Starfall might make these designs available through her own distribution and also mentioned to provide a replacement solution for espionage and tracking features, this time not distributed through OpenCollar because of recurring disputes within the community on this matter. Should this be made available in case, we are going to inform and link here on the blog.

The updat
ing process itself has been greatly simplified and uncluttered as well. Our manual is going to change page by page the following days until everything is up to speed with 3.980 versions.

We hope you enjoy.
